TechLab 4.0 is the Project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through which Aetna Group aims to develop a new generation of packaging and logistics systems with distributed intelligence/IoT and cyber-physical integration of advanced simulation and optimisation services.

The goal of the project is to obtain a new generation of packaging and logistics systems with built-in intelligence; a strong digital connotation of the components, machines and built-in systems in order to improve diagnostics, remote control functions, and prediction of problems; new simulation platforms that can be used in the commissioning phase and during the lifetime of the system.

The results are intended to investigate and develop a packaging pilot line based on the principles of distributed automation/IoT integration of functional simulation for virtual commissioning in the design workflow of automation systems. They also intend to study and develop new actuation and control components to optimise the operation and dynamics of operating machines.
